BigGods win MLG Minor SA qualifier
BigGods have won the MLG Regional Minor South America Qualifier, defeating INTZ 2-1 (16-5 on Cache, 10-16 on Cobblestone, and 16-5 on Dust2) and have thus qualified for the Americas Minor.
The South American Qualifier to the MLG Americas Minor was hosted by CEVO and featured eight Brazilian teams (somewhat defeating the intention of the term "South American"), including the likes of Keyd, g3x, and INTZ.
Following the quarter-finals, the first semifinal was a face-off between favourites Keyd, a team who finished second at the MAX5 Invitational and including Luminosity's former coach Renato "nak" Nakano, and BigGods, a relatively unknown team who had recently won the grand final of the Liga PRO - Games Academy tournament over Santos.DeX in unexpected fashion.
cogu's INTZ fell short against the dark horse that was "bigodes"
However it was the BigGods (whose name is apparently a mondegreen for the Portuguese word bigode which means moustache) that pulled off an upset defeat in stunning fashion, as the likes of Dener "KHTEX" Barchfield, Denis "dzt" Fischer, and last but not least Gabriel "BIEL THE MAGICIAN" Romais powered their way to a 2-0 win over Keyd.
On the other side of the bracket, it was Raphael "cogu" Camargo's INTZ (many still remember cogu playing for ProGaming.TD at ESWC 2012 and DreamHack Winter 2012) who took down Lucas "steel" Lopes's CNB in a fairly convincing 2-0 defeat and advanced to the grand final.
In the grand final, BigGods yet again proved they were a force to be reckoned with and defeated the more experienced INTZ lineup 2-1, once again displaying dominant performances on Cache and Dust2 (the two maps on which they had defeated Keyd Stars as well).
As a result, the team have advanced to the MLG Americas Minor and will now have to rush to sort out visa issues and avoid the sort of fate that befell their Brazilian brethren at the last Americas Minor.
*Update: The issue to secure visas is all the more vital as four out of the five of the current BigGods team were part of the Operation Kino team who failed to acquire visa clearance towards attending the Americas Minor back in January.

The North American qualifier will meanwhile kick off in the near future and begin with a massive 128-team bracket and then move into a more narrow Championship bracket on May 8, offering up three spots to the Minor.
